Newspaper printing history, technologies and materials are the basis of my visual arts practice.

I am a visual artist who works with newspaper printing plates, printing press blueprints and newsprint detritus. In my studio practice I work with spoils (the accidental and incidental prints created during the cleaning of the press after a newspaper print-run) as well as used newspaper printing plates. These materials are translated into artist’s books, collages, digital, mechanical and manual prints and a tabloid-format artwork I have termed ‘spoilspaper’.

Newspaper printing has now ceased in Toowoomba after 152 years of production. My works are an artists response to the future obsolescence of the newspaper printing press.
